Erectile dysfunction medications took in Glengormley
8 April 2011
Large amounts of unlicensed medicines have been taken by Department of Health authorities during a search of a home in Glengormley.
A guy was spoken with by department officers about unlawfully importing and subsequently providing unlicensed impotence medications via the internet.
The 47-year-old was also about other medication offenses.
He will now be the subject of a report to the general public Prosecution Service.
The search was carried out by the department's Medicines Regulatory Group.
Its senior enforcement office, Peter Moore, said: "It is crucial that we get the message across that unlicensed medications can be dangerous.
"These types of products being sold, typically online, have actually undergone no quality control and there can be no guarantee about their security.
"You merely do not know what you are taking or the conditions these products were made in. More notably, you do not know the effect drugs like this might have on your health."
